Academy Award nominated producer Josey McNamara formed LuckyChap Entertainment alongside Margot Robbie and Tom Ackerley in 2014, after meeting on the set of SUITE FRANCAISE where Josey worked as an assistant director. Josey later transitioned to producing and launched LuckyChap Entertainment with the intent of telling female-driven stories and promoting new filmmakers. In 2017, LuckyChap premiered their film I, TONYA at the Toronto Film Festival, which was then bought for distribution by Neon. The film went on to receive an Academy Award win for Allison Janney’s supporting actress role, along with two additional nominations- including Margot Robbie for lead actress. Additionally, LuckyChap’s film DREAMLAND, starring Margot Robbie and Finn Cole debuted at the 2019 Tribeca Film Festival and was acquired by Paramount for a November 2020 release. Most recently, LuckyChap’s feature PROMISING YOUNG WOMAN, starring Carey Mulligan, was released by Focus Features on December 25, 2020. The film, which debuted at the 2020 Sundance Film Festival, marks Emerald Fennell’s directorial debut. PROMISING YOUNG WOMAN received 5 Academy Award nominations, including Best Picture, 4 Golden Globe nominations, and 6 BAFTA nominations. Additionally, Josey received the Producer of the Year honor by The Hollywood Reporter in 2020 (along with Margot Robbie and Tom Ackerley).
